Drake Entrust in the community

It’s been a busy few weeks on the community connections front at Drake Entrust.

We believe in supporting good community causes, and since Drake Entrust owner Steve Brouwer and his wife Judy both love volleyball, it was a no-brainer to enter a Drake Entrust team in the 25th annual Chilliwack Athletes for Turkeys and Tots charity volleyball tournament recently, hosted by the Chilliwack-Mount Cheam Rotary Club. The annual two-day event raises money for Chilliwack Community Services' Christmas Sharing Program.

On Dec. 4, Drake Entrust took over Bravo, one of Chilliwack’s top dining restaurants, for an evening of fine food and conviviality celebrating the Christmas season.

On Dec. 8, many members of the Drake Entrust team took part in a day of professional development and networking at a special Dominion Lending Centres University day in Coquitlam. It was great to see colleagues in person and learn more about the field of mortgage services.

Then on Dec. 10, Steve got his Elf on, and had the honour and pleasure of taking part in the inaugural Elf Olympics at Minter Country Gardens.

He was in competition with about a dozen other local gentlemen.

Challenges included making a centerpiece, gift-wrapping a watering can, answering Christmas trivia questions, cutting out snowflakes, stringing popcorn garlands, a pinecone and spoon race, and putting four marshmallows into one's mouth with out using hands.and then singing White Christmas with the marshmallows in the mouth (he got to join city councillo r Chuck Stam in that one). Each competitor was in the running to win $1,000 to donate to his favourite local charity (which in Steve’s case was Unity Christian School). And the winner was…Steve! Chilliwack Secondary teacher Steve Anderson that is! Steve Brouwer came a close second.
